Success Stories
When I first met Lana, I was optimistic about the process. She came across as attentive, knowledgeable, and well-connected. However, once the home search began, it quickly became clear that I was the one doing most of the legwork — consistently finding and sending listings to her, rather than receiving options that met my needs. Lana referred me to a lender of her choice who unfortunately didn’t seem very familiar with the type of financial situation I was in. He expressed early doubts about my ability to get approved, which was very discouraging. When I shared my concerns, Lana reassured me by saying, “It’s his job to worry — we’ll be fine.” Trusting her, I proceeded with an offer on what I believed was the perfect home for my family. Once the offer was accepted, the lender confirmed I could not be approved — something I now believe could have been avoided with better guidance up front. I began reaching out to other lenders myself and found one who was incredibly knowledgeable and got me approved quickly. However, during that time I lost the home I had originally put an offer on, because Lana failed to communicate the due date and location for delivering the earnest money. Her explanation was that she was “protecting me in case I didn’t get approved” — a decision I feel should have been mine to make. From there, I was left scrambling to find a second option, and by then several homes I had been interested in were off the market. The new listings Lana sent did not align with my needs — some lacked enough space for my children, others were homes I had previously expressed disinterest in. It felt like she hadn’t been truly listening to me throughout the nearly two months we worked together. In the end, I found another home on my own, though I felt it was overpriced and not ideal. That offer ultimately didn’t go through either. I had started my home search early enough to avoid pressure from my lease ending, but that window was wasted, and I ended up in a worse position than where I began. I’m extremely disappointed with how this experience played out. I don’t feel like my needs or concerns were taken seriously, and I believe poor communication and lack of attention led to unnecessary stress and missed opportunities.
